CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Regular Meeting of the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission held in Council Chambers on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. <br />I.CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30p.m. <br />1.Roll Call <br />Present: Chair David Kubat <br />Vice-Chair Krueger <br />Commissioner Darrell (DJ) Olson, Jr. <br /> Commissioner Richard Nelson <br /> Commissioner Les Kuiper <br />Commissioner Bruce Thompson <br />Absent: Commissioner Gloria Semmelink <br />Staff: City Administrator, Mark Statz <br /> Council Liaison, Russ Koski <br /> <br />II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br />III. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />The agenda was approved as presented. <br />Motion by Commissioner Thompson, seconded by Commissioner Kuiper to Approve the <br />amended Agenda. All in favor. Motion carried. <br />IV. PUBLIC HEARINGS (6:34 PM or shortly thereafter) <br />None <br />V. AWARDS, PRESENTATIONS, APPEARANES <br />None <br />VI. OLD BUSINESS <br />1.Ord. #130, Section 130.03 – Discharge of Firearms – Kurt Glasser <br />Administrator Statz introduced the item, noting that the ordinance is being reviewed because the <br />city receives calls from residents who are concerned about safety; inquiries often refer to activities <br />like duck hunting within the city limits and using bows and arrows in backyards, etc. Attorney <br />Glasser noted that there are overlapping regulations and second amendment rights to consider as <br />revisions are made. Discussion ensued about banning the discharge of firearms and projectiles <br />versus restricting and/or regulating them.
