October 31, 2022 <br />Contact:Erik Thorson, Communications Director, 763-324-4612, or e-mail: <br />Erik.Thorson@co.anoka.mn.us <br />FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br />Anoka County Participating in Operation Green Light for Veterans <br />The Anoka County Board of Commissioners during its Oct. 25 meeting adopted a <br />resolution that notes Anoka County will be taking part in Operation Green Light for Veterans Nov. <br />7-13. <br />This is a new initiative by the National Association of Counties that prompts counties to <br />light their buildings green during the first full week of November to show veterans that they are <br />seen, appreciated and supported. <br />Anoka County supports the nearly20,000 veterans who call Anoka County home in various <br />ways––through the county VeteranServices Office, veterans court and other initiatives and events <br />that focus on veterans in the area. <br />rd <br />For Operation Green Light, the west side of the Government Center, along 3Avenue, will <br />have green lighting in both the north and south entrances. <br />“Operation Green Light is a simple way to remind veterans that we are here for them,” said <br />Scott Schulte, chair, Anoka County Board of Commissioners. “The lights serve as a reminder for <br />all of us to take a moment to stop and reflect upon the many challenges faced by veterans.
