CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE <br />MEETING MINUTES <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville's Parks & Recreation Committee held a <br />scheduled meeting on August 3, 2022 in the Council Chambers at the Centerville City Hall and live <br />streamed at: https://northmetrotv.com/channel-15-live-stream. <br />Present: Committee Member Emem Akpan <br />Committee Member Kathy Freiermuth <br />Committee Member Jessica Kubat <br />Committee Member Suzanne Seeley <br />Absent: Chair Heidi Errickson-Grahek <br />Committee Member Brian Peterson <br />Not Approved <br />Also Present: Ms. Teresa Bender, City Clerk <br />Ms. Michelle Lakso, City Council Liaison (Left @ 7:30 p.m.) <br />L CALL TO ORDER <br />Acting Chair Seeley called the August 3, 2022 meeting of the Parks and Recreation meeting to order at <br />6:32 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Centerville City Hall. <br />II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />Motion by Committee Member Akpan, seconded by Committee Member Kubat to modify the <br />agenda as follows: Move Chain of Lakes Rotary Walk Club from Item #7, Unfinished Business to <br />Item #1, Appearances and to move Bald Eagle Waterski Club to Item #2, Appearances. All in <br />favor. Motion carried. <br />III. APPEARANCES <br />Ms. Linda Runback, Centennial Walking Club <br />Ms. Runback was invited to provide information about the Centennial Walking Club. The Chain of Lakes <br />Rotary Club submitted an application for a SHIP, (Statewide Health Improvement Program) grant from <br />Anoka County and received $3,000 to organize and market the Club (www.centennialwalks.com). She <br />stated that in 2021, walks were scheduled approximately four times per week, at different times of the <br />day, for various locations with walks averaging 1.5 miles lasting 30 to 60 minutes. She stated that in <br />2022, walks are scheduled for two times per week. She reported that the Rotary would be again <br />submitting for the grant as they felt that the program was well received but would like to obtain additional <br />participation from the public. She also stated that they are looking for leaders to assist in <br />promotion/marketing. She reported that the Club would like to have five walks per week with various <br />times and locations involved. She requested that the City promote the Club and that the Committee <br />support the group in any fashion that they could. <br />
