Well #2 Repairs City staff has applied for a reimbursement grant from Xcel Energy for the installation of the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), used in the repairs for Well #2. 2022 Thin Overlay Program and City Hall Parking Lot Improvements An Assessment Hearing has now been scheduled for January 25 to finalize individual assessments for the overlay portions of the project. Look for your mailed notice of the hearing for official details. City Hall Parking Lot Lighting The City Council reviewed and approved plans for proposed lighting at City Hall. The work would be quoted for construction in the spring of 2023 in an effort to allow time to secure a grant through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Downtown Streetscaping In 2010, as the county reconstructed County State Aid Highway 14, the city invested in streetscaping to help make Main Street a welcoming corridor. This included trees, lights, decorative boulevards and trails. Since then, the cityÓs EDA has made additional investments, including banners and seasonal decorations. Our public works department has recently doubled their efforts to keep that infrastructure looking its best. Over the past two years, we have painted hydrants, painted light pole bases and changed out light bulbs. This fall, you may have noticed a quick replacement of four trees which were failing to thrive. Growing trees in a salt- heavy boulevard, surrounded by concrete can be a challenge and tree replacement is a necessary part of our maintenance program.
