the planning commission to review a proposal to install a total of 260 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging <br />stations. Our site will be one of the first EV-ready Amazon sites in the country. The Commission and City <br />Council have both now reviewed and approved the plan. <br /> <br />A second meeting for the Corridor Study was held on December 12. Stakeholders heard from the consultant <br />on their initial data gathering and analysis. Next steps will be developed, looking at intersection evaluations <br />and other more specific corridor issues. The study will prioritize area-wide transportation improvements to <br />address increased traffic from Amazon and surrounding growth. The study will examine 20th Avenue from <br />st <br />Birch Street to 80th Avenue, and the intersection of 21 Ave. and Main Street. <br /> <br />st <br />Work on the 21 Avenue Floodway Impacts study has now been authorized, through an agreement with the <br />Rice Creek Watershed District. The study will supply required documentation to the Federal Emergency <br />st <br />Management Administration (FEMA), to demonstrate that the culvert placed under 21 Avenue with the <br />Distribution Alternatives project did not affect the flood elevation in the area. Once complete, the study and <br />resulting paperwork will clear the way for AmazonÓs Flood-fringe excavations. <br /> <br />PUBLIC WORKS <br />Commercial Water Connection Fee Assistance <br />At the last City Council meeting, the Council voted to extend the program through the end of 2023. The <br />program offers half-priced hook-up charges for businesses hooking to city water. <br /> <br />Toolcat <br />The public works department <br />recently took delivery of the new <br />Toolcat and received training on <br />its operation. Seen here, it was <br />used to do some spot sweeping in <br />our parking lot and on some <br />neighborhood streets, using our <br />box sweeping attachment. The <br />new piece of equipment has <br />proven quite versatile in using <br />our existing attachments as well <br />as some new ones. The annual <br />rain garden mowing at Hidden <br />Spring Park was done with the <br />brush cutter attachment and trails <br />were cleared with the snow <br />blower after the recent storm. <br /> <br />Wellhead Protection Plan <br />The Minnesota Department of Health held a kick-off meeting with city staff and consultants for the <br />implementation of the cityÓs Part-2 Wellhead Protection Plan. The group reviewed items in the documents <br />and the timelines associated with various activities. Staff will be following up on the action items over the <br />course of the next few months. <br /> <br />City staff recently completed final paperwork and receive reimbursement from the Department of Health <br />associated with a grand for sealing of a well in the downtown at no cost to the city or resident. With the <br />completion of this grant, the city can now apply for other grants related to the Wellhead protection plan. <br /> <br /> <br />
