City of Centerville <br />Planning and Zoning Commission <br />November 1, 2022 <br /> <br />th <br />Councilmember Koski reported that volunteer appreciation, held on October 25 went well. He also <br />th <br />reported that the Fire Steering Committee met on October 20 and the budget was discussed; in <br />particular the cost of fire trucks has significantly increased and there is a waiting period. <br />Councilmember Koski also discussed an apartment proposal came before the city council at their <br />last work session. <br />2. AdministratorÓs Report <br />The following items were added to the AdministratorÓs Report. <br />a. Letters of Interest for 2023 <br />Administrator Statz reported that per city ordinance, commissioners are required to sign letters of <br />interest each year confirming their commitment to serve for the following year. Letters were <br />distributed to commissioners for their signature. <br />st <br />b. 21 Avenue Apartment Î Concept Plan <br />A Concept plan for 109-unit apartment building was presented to the city council at their October <br />work session. The proposed project is on the lot north of the new Norbella facility on a 5-acre site. <br />There is a small retail component included in the proposed project and there was no vote taken by <br />the council. Administrator Statz noted that if there is a submittal they will come before the Planning <br />and Zoning Commission. <br /> <br />c. Moratoriums <br />Administrator Statz reported that the city council enacted a moratorium on the sale of cannabis and <br />THC products, so the city would have more time to study this before further legislative action. <br /> <br />Administrator Statz reported that the city council enacted a moratorium on new medical facilities <br />that unfairly burden the taxpayers. (i.e. Understaffed facilities calling 911 to assist staff with <br />patients). The moratorium allows staff to study this issue before further legislative action. <br /> <br />d. Planning & Zoning Action Items Tracker <br />Administrator Statz reviewed the Planning & Zoning Action Items Tracker sheet as presented in the <br />packet. This tracking sheet is relatively new and intended to help commissioners stay updated on <br />their activity; the tracking sheet is not meant to serve as another agenda for meetings. <br /> <br />X. ADJOURNMENT <br />Motion by Commissioner Kuiper, seconded by Commissioner Olson to adjourn the meeting <br />at 8:17 p.m. All in favor. Motion carried. <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />
