Motion carried.
VIII.OLD BUSINESS
1. Res. #23-0XX – Adopting the 2023 List of Appointments
Administrator Statz stated that with vacancy created by the resignation of Council Member Lakso, he
has simply left her previous appointment assignments blank, assuming the alternate would step in until
a new Council Member is appointed. Mayor Love pointed out that we should not leave the Acting
Mayor spot open. Administrator Statz explained that there is no policy but that it has been our practice
to have the most senior member of the council act in that capacity if both Mayor and Acting Mayor are
absent. Since Council Member Koski has the most consecutive years on the Council, he would be
appropriate for acting Mayor. Council Member King would be next in line since he and Council
Member Mosher began their current service on the same date, but Council Member King has previous
(non-contiguous) years of service. Some discussion ensued as to whether or not the list of
appointments should wait until a new Council Member is seated. Administrator Statz stated that it was
important to formally fill these appointments now with the intent to re-visit the list after the new
candidate is named. Council Member Lakso served as the city’s representative on the Anoka County
Page 2 of 6
