CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: <br />January 25, 2023 <br />Engineering <br />V.1 <br />TITLE OF ISSUE: <br />Public Assessment Hearing - 2022 Thin Overlay Project <br />BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br />In 2022, the city constructed a thin bituminous overlay project in the Hunter's Crossing (2nd and 3rd Additions) <br />and Pheasant Marsh neighborhoods, as well as on Progress Street, north of Main Street. As with previous <br />projects of this nature, adjacent property owners have been assessed a portion of the costs. The assessment <br />amount has been proposed at $650/lot for residential parcels and $6.50/front foot for commercial and <br />institutional parcels. <br />A public Improvement Hearing was held last year. At this meeting, a public Assessment Hearing will be held <br />to hear testimony from the public on the appropriateness of the proposed assessments. <br />COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: <br />Costs previously approved.
