CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: January 25, 2023 Engineering V.1 TITLE OF ISSUE: Public Assessment Hearing - 2022 Thin Overlay Project BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: In 2022, the city constructed a thin bituminous overlay project in the Hunter's Crossing (2nd and 3rd Additions) and Pheasant Marsh neighborhoods, as well as on Progress Street, north of Main Street. As with previous projects of this nature, adjacent property owners have been assessed a portion of the costs. The assessment amount has been proposed at $650/lot for residential parcels and $6.50/front foot for commercial and institutional parcels. A public Improvement Hearing was held last year. At this meeting, a public Assessment Hearing will be held to hear testimony from the public on the appropriateness of the proposed assessments. COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: Costs previously approved. Assessments proposed at $650/lot (res) or $6.50/LF for commercial/institutional REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Open the public hearing. Take public input. Motion to close the public hearing.
