CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: February 8, 2023 Administration VIII.1 TITLE OF ISSUE: Vacant Council Seat Appointment BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: At their last meeting, the City Council tabled the appointment of a candidate to fill the vacant City Council seat in order to allow more time for potential applicants to come forward. At the time of this memo, city staff has not received any additional applications. A Council Work Session has been scheduled for 5 PM on February 8, ahead of the regular City Council meeting. If there are applications received before noon on Wednesday, February 8, we will interview the candidate(s) at that work session. If not, the work session will be canceled. With or without new applicants, the Council may wish to consider appointing a candidate to the vacant seat. If appointed, the new member would begin their service on February 9, 2023. COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: N/A REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Motion to appoint _________________ to fill the open seat on the City Council, effective February 9, 2023, until such time as a special election is held to fill the seat, which must be done no later than the next regular City election (November, 2024).
