Volunteers are needed and a signup <br />sheet will be available on the city’s web site shortly. <br />Statewide Health Improvement Partnership Grant Submissions <br />The committee is waiting to hear if they have been successful with two (2) Statewide Health Improvement <br />Partnership (SHIP) grants for the installation of a free-standing Bike Repair Stand, and Bottlefiller, <br />w/Drinking Fountain & Pet Station for Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park and a Bottlefiller, w/Drinking Fountain <br />& Pet Station for Acorn Creek Park. The committee should be notified by April 1, 2023. <br />Meeting and City Hall Schedule <br />April 4, 2023, 6:30 p.m. – Planning & Zoning Commission <br />April 5, 2023, 6:30 p.m. – Parks & Recreation Committee <br />April 12, 2023, 6:30 p.m. – City Council <br />April 19, 2023, 6:30 p.m. – Economic Development Authority <br />PLANNING & ZONING <br />Public Hearings <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing on March 14 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall and <br />discussed potential changes to two sections of city code. Based on public comment and ongoing discussions <br />among the committee members, a recommendation to the City Council was put forward to allow limited use <br />of RVs and tents for recreational purposes. On-street parking restrictions will remain the same. However, <br />some additional streets were recommended for new parking restrictions. The majority of these were in the <br />industrial and downtown areas of the city. <br />THC Regulations <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission has asked staff to explore licensing the sale of Cannabis products, in a <br />similar manner to tobacco or alcohol. Staff will bring back some recommendations, working towards a <br />recommendation to the city council. Staff is also watching the state legislature as it debates bills which seek <br />to legalize marijuana. Some versions of these bills will prohibit the city from issuing licenses. <br />CENTERVILLE CARES <br />Anoka County Recycling App <br />Anoka County has a mobile app that informs users how to properly manage waste and <br />other unwanted items and it is available for smartphones and tablets. “Anoka County <br />Recycles” is the name of the app. Anoka County Recycling & Resource Solutions launched <br />the app to make recycling information more user-friendly and readily accessible when <br />you’re on-the-go. <br />The app mirrors the Recycling and Disposal Directory found on the Anoka County website <br />(anokacounty.us/recycle.) Users search for the item they want to dispose of, and the app will tell them whether <br />the item should be reused, recycled, composted, or thrown in the garbage. For items that can be recycled at <br />drop-off locations but not in curbside recycling, such as electronics, the app provides a list of convenient <br />locations with contact details. Download the “Anoka County Recycles” app to learn more about what you or <br />your loved ones can be recycling. <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br />At the EDA’s regularly scheduled meeting on March 15, Michelle Koch, the Quad Area Chamber President, <br />gave a presentation on the state of the chamber. The presentation covered branding efforts that are currently <br />underway, leadership changes, engagement initiatives, and upcoming events. <br /> <br />
