Proposed Amendment to City Code Chapter 156: Temporary Dwellings & Structures Discussion ensued about proposed revisions to the ordinance. The definition of recreational vehicles was discussed; adding a definition of a tent was also discussed. The Commission suggested modifying the definition of recreational vehicle and adding a definition for tent. The Commissioner suggested using a dictionary definition of a tent, such as Ða collapsible shelter of fabric (such as nylon or canvas) stretched and sustained by poles and used for camping outdoors or as a temporary buildingÑ and adding Ðas used for recreational purposes for a limited period of time. Noting what a tent is not, i.e., a lean to, car port, etc., is often helpful too. Discussion ensued about restricting the parking of recreational vehicles to the driveway and adding a restriction for a 5-10ft setback from the right of way or curb for all temporary dwellings and structures. The public hearing on both ordinances was closed at 7:32p.m. Motion by Commissioner Olson, seconded by Commissioner Kuiper to close the public hearings on the Temporary Dwellings & Structures and No Parking Areas was closed. All in favor. Motion carried. The Commission approved revisions to City Code Chapter 156: Temporary Dwellings & Structures. Motion by Chair Kubat, seconded by Commissioner Nelson to Approve Ordinance 156: Temporary Dwellings & Structures as presented in the packet with the addition definitions of reinstating the definition of recreational vehicle and modifying it, adding a definition of tent, adding distance from the right-of-way, and adding a restriction on the use of temporary dwellings and structures. All in favor. Motion carried. 2. Proposed Amendment to City Code Chapter 71: Parking Requirements There was no additional discussion on the No Parking ordinance.
