City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting Minutes <br />April 12, 2023 <br />Administrator Statz stated that Staff and Council negotiated an extension of the current contract and the <br />extension is contained in the packet for Council consideration. He did state that Staff has modified the <br />extension for a 3.5 year rather than previously discussed 3 year contract extension to allow for the fiscal <br />year of the contract being January 1 to December 31 versus what it was July 1 to June 31. He stated that <br />Attorney Glaser has reviewed and that language was modified regarding additional extensions at a three <br />year increment versus as negotiated by both parties. Attorney Glaser stated that this is a pretty simple <br />agreement. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Mosher, seconded by Council Member Koski to Approve the Refuse <br />and Recycling Contract Extension with Republic Services as Presented. All in favor. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />IX. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Mayor’s Alliance Against Hunger <br /> <br />City Administrator Statz stated that this would be joining an organization similar to Beyond the Yellow <br />Ribbon with regular meets with other Mayor’s to discuss Hunger. Mayor Love stated that it fit well with <br />our Centerville Cares initiatives and there are no fees to become a member. Mayor Love stated that three <br />Minnesota cities are involved. Administrator Statz stated that the purpose is networking, obtaining ideas, <br />etc. <br /> <br />Council Member King asked who would be attending trainings and who would be paying for that. <br />Administrator Statz stated that any costs associated with attending meetings or trainings would be <br />approved by Council. Council Member Koski asked how long this organization had been organized and <br />conducting business. Administrator Statz felt that it was a newer established organization with the <br />minimal membership. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Taylor, seconded by Council Member Koski to Approve Joining the <br />Mayor’s Alliance against Hunter as Presented. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />X. COUNCIL/ADMINISTRATOR ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />1. Administrator/Engineer Report – Administrator Statz stated that his report was in Council’s <br />packet for their review and he would be happy to answer any questions they may have. <br />Administrator Statz highlighted the two vacancies on the Planning & Zoning Commission and <br />the one vacancy on the Parks & Recreation Committee and Festival volunteer needs. <br /> <br />Junior Council Member Shaw reported that the High School just finished with standardized testing. <br /> <br />2. Council Reports <br /> <br />a. Taylor- Council Member Taylor stated that she also attended the State of the City Address <br />where she was able to meet many community members. <br /> Parks & Recreation – Council Member Taylor stated Park Cleanup would be happening <br />on April 29 and anticipate a wonderful summer with Main Street Market and Music in the <br />Park. <br /> Anoka County Fire Protection Council – Council Member Taylor gave no report. <br />Page 5 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
