Development Inquiries Downtown landowner looking to develop approximately 3-acre site. Multiple inquires on Block 7 development. Commercial Water Connection Fee Assistance At the last City Council meeting, the Council voted to extend the program through the end of 2023. The program offers half-priced hook-up charges for businesses hooking to city water. th 20 Avenue (CSAH 54) Corridor Study The consultant has signed a supplemental agreement with the county to facilitate a public engagement component for the project, which will allow stakeholders to give input on concept maps, potential intersection treatments, access modifications, street cross sections, speed limits, and pedestrian routes. st The study is examining 20th Avenue from Birch Street to 80th Avenue, and the intersection of 21 Ave. and Main Street, aimed at identifying improvements needed in the short and long-term to accommodate regional growth. Wellhead Protection Plan The Minnesota Department of Health held a kick-off meeting with city staff and consultants for the implementation of the cityÓs Part-2 Wellhead Protection Plan. The group reviewed items in the documents and the timelines associated with various activities. Staff will be following up on the action items over the course of the next few months. City staff recently completed final paperwork and receive reimbursement from the Department of Health associated with a grand for sealing of a well in the downtown at no cost to the city or resident. With the completion of this grant, the city can now apply for other grants related to the Wellhead protection plan. 2022 Thin Overlay Program and City Hall Parking Lot Improvements A public hearing will be held on May 24, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers to provide an opportunity for five (5) property owners to appeal their special assessment amounts. These five (5) property owners purchased property in between the two (2) previous public hearings held for the project and have been provided with the required hearing notifications. City Hall Parking Lot Lighting The City Council awarded a contract to complete the parking lot lighting project, contingent upon a grant award through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The City was unsuccessful in obtaining the first round of awards but will be submitting again in a month or two. City Hall Security Upgrades The new system is up and running. Staff is very impressed with the ease of the new improvements. Staff is entertaining additional work, by receiving quotes of minimal cost for consideration.
