CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: October 11, 2023 Administration/Public Works IX.5 TITLE OF ISSUE: County Park Road Reconstruction - Mound Trail Detour BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Anoka County Parks is proposing a reconstruction of the road leading into the campground and beach/boat launch area at the regional park. Reconstructing a narrow road, in the method they are proposing makes doing so under traffic almost impossible. They are looking for a detour route and have asked the city for permission to use Mound Trail as that route. Their consultant has estimated a savings of $50,000 for the project if the detour is used. City staff has been working with county parks staff and has asked for the following restrictions: 1) No trucks 2) limit to 5 weeks 3) $5,000 contribution to overlay fund 4) sweeping as needed 5) restore berm at end of Mound Trail when finished 6) restore traffic on road each evening when practical. Staff believes this is an opportunity to be a partner with the County to save taxpayer dollars. COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: $5,000 income to Street Fund REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Motion to direct staff to prepare a formal agreement for use of Mound Trail as a detour route during the reconstruction of the Regional Park's Entrance Road.
