Page 2
With this layout, it is expected that there will be days in-betweenvariouswork activities in which the
road could beopenedfor two way traffic(i.e. whileconcrete is curing). With this option, it would be
necessaryto widen certain portionsof the trail corridor to prepare it for recreational vehicletraffic.
The additional traffic control costs for this alternative are estimated as follows:
Option 1 - Utilize Trail Corridor with Flaggers
Estimated
DescriptionUnitQuantityUnit CostExtension
Flaggers - 2 workers x 17 days Hours340$90$30,600
Prepare Trail Corridor for Vehicle TrafficLump Sum1$10,000$10,000
Crew Time to Close Road at Beginning of Each Working DayHours17$600$10,200
Crew Time to Re-Open Park Road at End of Each Working DayHours17$600$10,200
Total Estimated Additional Cost - Option 1$61,000
Option 2. Option 2 consists of requesting permission from the City of Centerville to utilize Mound
Trail as a Detour Route. If this alternative is utilized, the Detour Route wouldonly be utilized during
the reconstruction of the park entrance road, from Main Street to the campground road. This option
would requiresome grading at the south end of Mound Trail to remove the “hill”and would also
require that temporary gravel is placed on the temporary road connection. The additionaltraffic
control costs for this alternative are estimated as follows:
Option 2 - Utilize Mound Trail for Detour Route
Estimated
DescriptionUnitQuantityUnit CostExtension
Grading to Remove "Hill" and Prepare SubgradeLump Sum1$6,000$6,000
Aggregate Base for Temporary RoadTon140$30$4,200
Additional "Detour" SignageLump Sum1$800$800
Total Estimated Additional Cost - Option 2$11,000
The above costs are estimates of the “additional traffic control”costs only that are associated with the
reconstruction for each alternativeforthe 3,800 foot segment of park entrance road, and do not
representthe estimated total cost of traffic control for the entire project. It is our opinion that Option
2 would be preferrable to park visitors, particularly visitorsof the campground and/orboatlaunch that
may be operating recreational vehiclessuch asmotorhomes, pull behind camper trailers, andvehicle
and boat trailer combinations.
