<br />City of Centerville <br />Parks & Recreation Meeting Minutes <br />April 5, 2023 <br /> <br />new installation of bike racks. He would like to begin the installation of these bike racks in August, <br />but has many preliminary details to complete such as obtaining donations of product, placements, <br />etc. Mr. Hart was directed to contact Public Works Director Palzer to work closely with him <br />regarding proposed locations for installation, products needed, etc. prior to appearing before the <br />Committee’s next meeting. <br /> <br />3. Mr. & Mrs. Dick Munbleau – Additional Pickle Ball Courts (Eagle <br />Park) <br /> <br />Mr. Munbleau, a resident living close to Eagle Park, appeared before the Committee and stated <br />that he had concerns regarding the ability to lower the net at the tennis court in Eagle Park. He <br />stated that previously there was a crank which allowed for adjustment between the net height for <br />tennis (36”) and pickleball (34”). He stated that it currently is zip-tied and not adjustable. He also <br />stated that the tennis court was minimally used and asked if the Committee would consider making <br />the court entirely pickleball courts. <br /> <br />The Committee felt that additional discussion should take place regarding the request and <br />potentially placed on a future agenda. <br /> <br />IV. PUBLIC HEARINGS – NONE <br /> <br />V. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Status of SHIP Grants <br /> <br />City Clerk Bender stated that the City was successful in obtaining the two SHIP Grants. She <br />explained that the City was awarded $2,454.26 for the installation of the proposed Bike Repair <br />Station to be installed along the Regional Trail in Lauria LaMotte Memorial Park. The funding <br />would cover the purchase of the station and installation but exclude labor for the installation. <br /> <br />City Clerk Bender stated that the City was awarded $3,000 for the installation of the proposed <br />Hydration Stations for Acorn Creek Park and Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park. She explained that <br />each station was approximately $10,000 which did not include installation. <br /> <br />Ms. Bender stated that the installations and submissions of invoices needed to be completed within <br />a year. <br /> <br />Motion by Chairperson Errickson-Grahek, seconded by Committee Member Akpan to <br />recommend to the City Council to accept both grants. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />2. Purchase of Music Mixer & Speakers <br /> <br />Committee Member Peterson discussed his recommended purchases: mixer - $1,700, (2) audience <br />speakers - $850/ea. and (2) additional speakers for the musicians - $150/ea. He stated that a <br />hardcover-sturdy, water/airproof case should be purchased for the mixer which would cost <br />approximately $100.
