<br />City of Centerville <br />Parks & Recreation Meeting Minutes <br />April 5, 2023 <br /> <br />speakers along with any additional cables, etc. He felt that the total cost of upgrading the <br />equipment would be $4,000. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding the budget and funding the items, the selling or keeping of the old <br />equipment, the use of the equipment with almost all events, etc. <br /> <br />Motion by Committee Member Seeley, seconded by Committee Member Akpan to <br />recommend to the City Council to approve the expenditure of $4,000 for the new mixer, <br />speakers, cases, etc. with $3,000 coming from the Professional Services of the P & R budget <br />and the remaining $1,000 from the donation from Kwik Trip or any additional expenses <br />would be paid from the P & R budget. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />3. Music in the Park <br />a. Band Contracts <br /> <br />Committee Member Peterson gave an update that he has successfully scheduled eight bands for <br />the 8-week run of events between June 13 and August 15 with no performance scheduled on July <br />4 and August 1, 2023. He stated that staff would be forwarding contracts to performers for <br />signatures and returning to City Hall. <br /> <br />b. Vendors - Carbone’s <br />Carbone’s has committed to providing food for all eight weeks of the Music in the Park series and, <br />in addition to their pizza, will have some unique offerings. <br /> <br />VI. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Park Facility Permit Application <br /> <br />Motion by Committee Member Akpan, seconded by Chairperson Errickson-Grahek to <br />recommend to the City Council to approve the submitted application for Cub Scout Pack <br />232 for the use of Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park for their annual Rock Launch with the <br />local MASA rocketry club, scheduled for April 29, 2023 with a rain date of May 13, 2023. All <br />in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />2. Park Facility Usage Request <br /> <br />Motion by Chairperson Errickson-Grahek, seconded by Committee Member Akpan to <br />recommend to the City Council to approve the submitted application for Centennial Youth <br />Soccer for the use Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park from Spring through Fall on Mondays <br />through Thursday evenings, subject to the submittal of their schedule in advance. All in <br />favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />NOTE: Ms. Bender stated that Centennial Community Education has scheduled the use of one of <br />the soccer fields at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park from July 19 to August 9, 2023 from 5:30-7:00 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />Page 3 of 5 <br /> <br />
