City of Centerville <br />Park & Recreation Meeting Minutes <br />October 4, 2023 <br />within the School District and how they are handling the situation, potential for accidents <br />attempting to cross Main Street in an alternative area during the closure, etc. The Committee felt <br />that additional information was needed regarding the above-stated item and that maybe a <br />compromise could be reached. The Item was tabled. <br /> <br />3. Suggestion from Resident to Upgrade Parks/MN WI Playground Grant <br /> <br />An email was received stating concerns regarding outdated equipment, safety issues and limited <br />accessibility for children with disabilities. The resident requested that resources and funding be <br />allocated towards renovating, maintaining and providing accessible access for all children. Both <br />Committee Member Grahek and City Clerk Bender responded to her. Ms. Bender offered the <br />resident an opportunity to attend a meeting, along with the opportunity of serving on the <br />Committee. The Committee felt that discussions would continue regarding funding, updating and <br />additions for new equipment would be discussed in the near future. <br /> <br />City Clerk Bender stated that the deadline for the MN/WI Playground Equipment Grant application <br />was October 20, 2023. Discussion ensued as to whether there was enough time to adequately <br />complete the application and it was suggested that a representative from MN WI Playground <br />Equipment attend an upcoming meeting to address available grants for 2024. There was additional <br />discussion regarding discounted pricing or additional grant opportunities from alternative vendors. <br /> <br />4. Centerville Lions Christmas in the Park Î Special Event Permit Application, Use of <br />LaMotte Park (December 9, 2023, 3-6 p.m.) <br /> <br />City Clerk Bender stated that the Lions desired to utilize LaMotte Park for their annual Christmas <br />in the Park event for 2023 similar to their event in 2022. It was stated that they had submitted a <br />Special Event Permit Application. <br /> <br />Motion made by Committee Member Seeley, seconded by Committee Member Peterson to <br />recommend Approval of Use of LaMotte Park to the City Council as submitted. All in favor. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />VII. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />1. April 5, 2023, P & R Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />Motion made by Committee Member Peterson, seconded by Committee Member Fuchs to <br />approve the meeting minutes meetings with the following correction: change the Troup # to <br />256 rather than 236. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />VIII. UPDATES/ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />1. Staff Updates Î City Clerk Bender <br /> <br />a.
