City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting Minutes <br />March 13, 2024 <br />1. Administrator/Engineer Report – Administrator Statz stated that his report was contained in the <br />packet and that he would be happy to address any questions from the Council. He provided <br />Council with a brief review. <br /> <br />2. Council Reports <br /> <br />Jr. Council Member Sauber stated that that the boys hockey team was at State the previous week and <br />that it was spring break. <br /> <br />a. Taylor – <br />(i) Economic Development Authority - Council Member Taylor gave no report. <br />(ii) Police Governing Board – Council Member Taylor gave no report. <br /> <br />b. Koski – <br /> (i) Planning & Zoning Commission – Council Member Koski stated that the Commission is <br />working on the Land Use portion of the Code, interviewed candidates and thanked them <br />for their desire to serve and again thanked Ms. Broussard Vickers. <br /> (ii) Fire Steering Committee – Council Member Koski gave no report. <br /> <br />c. Sweeney - <br />(i) Fire Steering Committee – Council Member Sweeney gave no report. <br />(ii) Parks & Recreation Committee – Council Member Sweeney stated that the committee <br />had lengthy discussions regarding projects and priorities, heard a presentation from the <br />Centerville Lions and interviewed candidate Ms. Port. <br />(i) Fire Protection Council – Council Member Sweeney gave no report. <br /> <br />d. Mosher – Thanked Linda Broussard Vickers for serving until interested candidates were <br />appointed to the Planning & Zoning Commission. <br />(i) Economic Development Authority – Council Member Mosher gave no report. <br />(ii) Police Governing Board – Council Member Mosher gave no report. <br /> <br />e. Love – Briefed the Council regarding their attendance of City Day on the Hill, large discussion <br />regarding the Local Zoning Authority but was able to speak with Representative Engen about <br />Local Government Aid, regional Fire as costs are extremely high to operate smaller Districts, Fair <br />Market Homestead Credit and offered an opportunity for the State to incentivize the Jr. Council <br />Member Program. He offered an opportunity to Council Member Taylor and Jr. Council Member <br />Sauber to speak regarding their experiences with both representatives. Jr. Council Member Sauber <br />stated that she spoke about people of her age group prioritize; housing and college prices along <br />with educational performance in non-public school grades as they are not what they should be. <br />She also stated that she spoke with Representative Engen regarding the age of legislators and the <br />need for younger representation and she stated that he is very passionate on the item. Council <br />Member Taylor spoke about animal rights, mutual city goals and asked for support for certifying <br />Veterinary Technicians and reaching out to skilled workers and validating them. <br />(i) North Metro Telecommunications Commission – Mayor Love gave no report. <br />(ii) Police Governing Board – Mayor Love gave no report. <br />(iii) Other Mayoral Reports – Mayor Love gave no report. <br /> <br /> <br />Page 5 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
