New UTV Rescue Vehicle
Centennial Fire District recently purchased a new UTV to add to
our ability to reach more remote areas in our communities, such
as trails and larger parks. Our crews respond to lots of calls for
medical assistance by users of these facilities and it can be tough
to get to those folks with traditional fire apparatus.
Station Maintenance
Centerville’s Fire Station
recently got a new door. The old
door had begun sticking and the
lock mechanism was beginning to fail. As it turns out, being able to get into
the fire station is an important part of responding to fires.
Safe Escape Trailer
The Safe Escape Trailer has been completely renovated from the top
down. Our trailer was in serious need of replacement last year. After
pricing out comparable units it was obvious that the $150,000 price tag
for new was not in the cards. Assistant Chief Scavo and his team led by
Jeff Lundquist were given a $15,000 budget to rebuild the existing trailer.
With the help of several members the entire inside was gutted and
rebuilt to match the current needs, the exterior had a new design
created and the trailerwas completely wrapped covering up all the hail damage. New wheels, tires, and a
full mechanical checkup was also done. The trailer was officially completed last week. I could not be more
pleased with the resourcefulness of the crew that took this projecton. This is an example of what makes
our people so awesome!
This trailer is a great example of the kinds of resources made more available to us through our
partnership with SBM. Look for it to make an appearance at Public Safety Night during Fete des Lacs!
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
1687 Westview Street (LaLonde Property)
A Memorandum of Understandingwas approved at the December 13 City Council meeting, outlining the
various facets of a potential development deal involving Tax Increment Financing in support of a 110-unit
market rate apartment building. The development was also presented to the planning commission for a
sketch plan review on January 2, 2024. Ebert Companies is now working to prepare an application for a
Preliminary Plat and PUD as the next step in the entitlement process.
