23.2 Guidelines <br />Policy: The following guidelines are established for the use of City -owned cellular <br />phones: <br />A) During work hours personal phone calls will be acceptable in those circumstances <br />where it is necessary to briefly contact someone concerning important matters. <br />Calls of this nature shall be as brief as possible and should be made only when <br />circumstances prevent timely access to customary telephone services. The city <br />may ask the employee to reimburse for such personal use minutes if the phone's <br />plan -minutes are exceeded for that month and those minutes become an <br />additional cost to the City. <br />B) During non -work hours City Employees having access to assigned City -owned <br />cellular phones may make reasonable personal phone calls during all hours. <br />Employees having 24-hour access to City -owned cellular phones and who also <br />use the phone for personal reasons will reimburse the city for all personal phone <br />calls, to the extent that the calls exceed the maximum allowable airtime. <br />C) City Employees who take home a city -owned phone will agree to be accessible for <br />City business when necessary and practical after regular work hours. <br />D) All cellular phones shall remain the property of the City and shall be returned to the <br />City upon the termination of employment or if the cellular phone is no longer <br />necessary for work -related purposes. Any inappropriate use of phones may <br />subject to the Employee to disciplinary action. Any additional charges will be paid <br />by the Employee. <br />24. CARRYING OF FIREARMS <br />24.1 Policy <br />The City of Centerville establishes a policy prohibiting the carrying of firearms while acting <br />in the course and scope of employment for the City. This includes but is not limited to: <br />■ Driving in a city vehicle. <br />■ Working at any city owned work site. <br />■ Working off -site on behalf of the city. <br />This policy shall not apply to any licensed peace officer acting within the scope of <br />employment. <br />Page 43 of 60 <br />
