Discipline: Employees who participate in discrimination of any kind are subject to <br />discipline, up to and including termination. <br />Policy: In keeping with the City's commitment and the requirements of the law, the City and <br />staff will strive to remove any discrimination in the treatment of customers, employment, <br />assignment and promotion of personnel, training programs, services and opportunities <br />offered to citizens and staff, location, and use of facilities, and in verbal and written <br />communications. <br />Complaint Procedure: Employees can bring complaints, ask questions, and raise <br />concerns under this policy without fear of reprisal. <br />A) An Employee who believes he/she has been made the subject of any discrimination <br />or who believes he/she has witnessed discrimination should report the incident <br />immediately to his/her supervisor. The employee's supervisor shall then immediately <br />notify the City Administrator about the complaint. <br />B) If the contact with the immediate supervisor does not prove effective, or if the <br />problem is with the supervisor, the Employee may at his/her own discretion, by-pass <br />the immediate supervisor and submit a written complaint directly to the City <br />Administrator. <br />C) An Employee should report the complaint in writing, detailing the nature of the <br />complaint and all events leading up to the situation prompting the complaint. List any <br />witnesses to the event, the time, date and place of the alleged violation, and any <br />other information that may be pertinent to the complaint. <br />28. SAVINGS CLAUSE <br />This policy is subject to the laws of the United States and the State of Minnesota; if any provision <br />shall be held to be contrary to law by a court of competent jurisdiction from whose final judgment or <br />decree no appeal has been taken within the time provided, such provision shall be void.
