tǒĬƌźĭ /ƚƒƒĻƓƷƭ ƚƓ ЊЏБА ĻƭƷǝźĻǞ {ƷƩĻĻƷ Α \[ğ\[ƚƓķĻ tƩƚƦƚƭğƌ
February 24, 2024, No address provided - Christy Davis
Ч\]ŗŗċ϶ŎŗŵŏijŏĩϽ϶
I wanted to write about the Lalonde Apartment proposed development. We are opposed to
the apartment complex development in the location suggested. The road is very busy and
where the suggested street is to come through will be a blind spot and cause accidents.
There is also not adequate access to the pedestrian crossing to get to the lake and I can
see people trying to cross often. The parking lot on the lake side will be an eyesore and the
complex is too large. They say it will be luxury but from what I can tell they have no
experience with luxury complexes. We need more retail to make taxes lower in our
community and to develop a town center. This is more important to the town and having a
place for people and giving the town a node and community. We should have an area
walkable for community members to access and support one another ǎ rst and foremost.
Thank you,
9İŵijŹƂƢ϶?êƚijŹШ϶
March 14, 2024 Response from Mark Statz
Ч9İŵijŹƂƢϽ϶
Thank you for reaching out with your concerns and thoughts about the proposed development on
the Lalonde property and development in our downtown, in general.
First, I wanted to clear up an unfortunate misunderstanding of how Westview Street is shown on
the map. It is unlikely that Westview Street will go all the way through to Main Street as has been
depicted on some of our drawings. We agree that the sightlines there are not conducive to an
intersection. A traic study will be conducted with the development to ensure the intersection at
Main and Centerville Road can handle the additional traic.
As to the aesthetics of the project, thêƂЪŹ϶obviouslƢϽ϶ê϶ŹƇăŁđąƂijƚđ϶ċijŹąƇŹŹijŗŏϽ϶Źŗ϶fЪňň϶ňđƂ϶ƢŗƇ϶ĨŗŵŎ and
express your own opinions ŗŏ϶ƂİêƂϼ϶°İđ϶ąijƂƢЪŹ϶ċŗƜŏƂŗƜŏ϶ŎêŹƂđŵ϶Ųňêŏ϶ŹİêŵđŹ϶ƢŗƇŵ vision of a
walkable town center. The master plan, many real estate professionals, and a recent market study
in the downtown area point out that in order to attract retail, you ǎ rst need traic counts and
rooftops in close proximity to the downtown area. Retail cannot survive and most will not even
entertain locating in a spot that does not meet their traic and residential density requirements. To
that end, this project would add to the traic and density needed for that walkable community to
thrive. Unfortunately, the residential units need to come ǎ rst; then the retail. It just doeŹŏЪƂ work
the other way around.
We hope you will join us on Monday, March 25 from ͱ϶А϶ʹ϶¡~϶êƂ City Hall for our Town Hall Open
House, where City Councilmembers, sta and the developer will be on hand to discuss the
proposed development and many other topics around town. Please stay in touch as we continue
the review ŗĨ϶ƂİijŹ϶ŲŵŗŲŗŹđċ϶ċđƚđňŗŲŎđŏƂϼШ
Thanks.
Nbsl!Tubu{-QF
Djuz!Benjojtusbups0Fohjoffs!
Djuz!pg!Dfoufswjmmf!
2991!Nbjo!Tu/!
Dfoufswjmmf-!NO!66149
P;!762.53:.4343!
