Proposal: Caliber Collision
The proposed business is for auto glass repair/replacement and calibration.
The building is located in the I-1 (Industrial) zoning district. The cityÓs Planning and Zoning
Commission recently found two different businesses who did window tinting, auto accessory
installation and retrofitting of vehicles for public safety uses to be to be substantially similar to
ÐMachine and Repair Shops,Ñ under the cityÓs zoning code.
StaffÓs recommendation is that this use is Ðclosely similarÑ to a Machine and Repair Shop, which
is a permitted use in the Industrial Zone. As with the other examples noted above, we viewed
them as separate and distinct from ÐAutomobile Service,Ñ which tends to involve issues like
noise, smells, greasy messy premises, and the risk of undesirable wastewater components (oil,
VOCs, etc.). This operation, like the others, would be clean, quiet and pose very little risk to the
sewer system.
If the Planning Commission concurs that auto glass repair/replacement and calibration is also
substantially similar to Machine and Repair Shops,by the Planning
Commission
