City of Centerville <br />EDA Meeting Minutes <br />September 16, 2024 <br />Motion by Commissioner Taylor, seconded by Commissioner Swenson to approve the <br />agreement with Outdoor Lighting with the noted revision of updating the agreement to <br />reflect the use of multi-color lights. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />2. Holiday Lights for City Hall & Decorations <br />Executive Director Lewis introduced this item as presented in the packet. Discussion ensued about <br />lights for the building and the EDA requested that staff work with Commissioner Taylor on lights <br />that would work on both the city hall and fire department. The EDA approved a budget of $1,250 <br />for the lights, with staff handling the installation. Discussion ensued about having the lights <br />installed before Halloween. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Mosher, seconded by Commissioner Swenson to approve $1,250 <br />for the purchase of holiday lights with advice from Commissioner Taylor. All in favor. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />3. Board Resignation Î Tony Smith <br />Executive Director Lewis introduced this item as presented in the packet. Executive Director <br />Lewis thanked Commissioner Smith for his contribution to the EDA and the Board wished Tony <br />all the best. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Mosher, seconded by Commissioner Taylor to accept EDA <br />Member Tony SmithÓs resignation. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />4. Small Business Saturday <br />Executive Director Lewis introduced this item as presented in the packet. Discussion ensued about <br />how the Board would like to support local businesses. The EDA asked staff to work with Michelle <br />Koch, President of the Centennial Area Chamber to explore ideas. The Board also asked staff to <br />send an email to businesses to gauge their interest in event participation via in person or online. <br />The EDA also talked about preparing a guide for residents to increase awareness about business <br />offerings/services. <br /> <br />5. Placemaking Î Cornerstone Park <br />Executive Director Lewis introduced this item as presented. Discussion ensued about being open <br />to providing financial support to enhance features with a smaller tree or customization features <br />that exceed the approved budget from the Park Dedication Fund. The Board recommended that the <br />EDA and City Council have an opportunity to see what the tree looks like. No financial <br />commitment was made at this time and further discussion will resume at a future meeting. <br /> <br />X. ADJOURNMENT <br />Motion by Commissioner Taylor, seconded by Commissioner Swenson to adjourn the <br />September 16, 2024, Economic Development Authority meeting at 6:45 p.m. All in favor. <br />Motion carried. <br />Ќ <br /> <br /> <br />
