City of Centerville
City Council Meeting Minutes
September 11, 2024
Administrator Statz stated that last year there was some consternation about the number of items that piled
up on the last two agendas for the year and some thought of whether or not to have a second meeting in
either November or December to lighten the load and not have so many items pile up on an agenda. He
stated that staff is fine either way and it has always been the procedure to call a meeting with three days-
notice if needed. He also stated that the December,
second meeting of the month falls on the Christmas Holiday. Administrator Statz stated that if Council
wanted to schedule a second meeting of either November or December that could be discussed this evening
or continuing with the general practice of one meeting per November and December and if the need arose,
a second meeting would be called.

Administrator Statz added clarification that the two second meetings of the month contain work sessions
and if Council desired, to continue to have a work session then that should be contained in the motion.

Discussion ensued regarding starting a meeting at 5 p.m. and continuing until 11:00 p.m. is taxing on
some, staff discretion, end of year items of necessity, booking one and cancelling if need be.

Motion by Council Member Taylor, seconded by Council Member Sweeney to Schedule a Council
meeting for December 5, 2024.

Administrator Statz requested clarification on whether this was adding a third meeting and whether there
was a desire to schedule a work session on the same evening.

Council Member Taylor withdrew her motion.

Motion by Council Member Taylor to cancel the November 27, 2024 and December 25, 2024
meetings, moving the Work Sessions to the first meetings of the months and add an anticipated
meeting/“placeholder” for December 5, 2024.

Mayor Love stated that currently there were not two meetings in December (December 25, 2024) was not
scheduled.

Council Member Taylor accepted Mayor Love friendly amendment removing “cancel the December
25, 2024, meeting from the motion. Site Plan Review – Iron Valley Equipment

Administrator Statz stated that this item was unique as sometimes businesses move into buildings where
previous businesses operated and the City does not issue licenses to businesses.
