City of Centerville <br />Park and Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes <br />October 2, 2024 <br /> <br /> <br />VIII.UPDATES/ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />1. Staff Updates – Ms. Teresa Bender, City Clerk <br /> <br />a. LaMotte Park Play Structure(s) <br />Administrator Statz provided a written update to the committee members regarding the <br />recommendations made by this committee to the City Council which were approved. Please see <br />VI. New Business, 2 and #3 on pages 2 through 4 of September 4, 2024 P & R Committee Meeting <br />Minutes. The next step for the project is developing a Request for Proposals to send out to various <br />vender, which staff is working on this document and will provide a draft to the committee, for <br />review, at its November meeting. It is anticipated that working through the RFP process, over the <br />next several months, should allow the purchase and installation of the equipment during the <br />summer of 2025. <br /> <br />b. Fiore Tree <br />There has been communication between Mr. Dan Schmitz, Building Inspector, Code Enforcer and <br />Park Landscaper and Mr. Joe Palumbo of Palumbo Services to schedule a meeting to take a look <br />at some samples, determine the best size to purchase and discuss concrete base and installation. <br />The EDA is interested in assisting in funding additional items such as irrigation, lighting, audio, <br />nd <br />additional trees, etc. to the tree/park if costs exceed $25,000. As of the October 2 P & R meeting, <br />no meeting has yet been scheduled. <br /> <br />c. Other Park Updates <br /> Acorn Creek Park – In addition to the work planned for LaMotte Park, the approved <br />Playground Equipment Plan includes the replacement of the decking on the playground in <br />Acorn Creek Park. These parts have been ordered and will be replaced over the winter. <br /> Royal Meadows Park – Staff assured Council that efforts would be made to ensure the safety <br />and playability of the Playground equipment at Royal Meadow Park. The stair elements of that <br />playground, which were the main source of concern have been ordered and will be replaced <br />as soon as they arrive. The cost of these replacement parts fits within the parks annual <br />maintenance budget and will not come out of either capital fund. <br /> <br />d. Public Works - Parks Update for September <br /> Prepping hockey rink boards for paint & installing material to hold water/ice <br /> Acorn Creek Park - Addressed numerous issues with the Hydration station, with it constantly <br />running and leaking and removed a dead pine tree <br /> Royal Meadows Park – moved weeds from back corner of this park <br /> Working on scheduling a meeting with Palumbo Service regarding the Fiore Tree <br /> Flushed hydrants within the parks <br /> Emptied garbage and recycling containers <br /> Watered the monument flowers <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Page 4 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
