CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: January 22, 2025 Engineering VIII.5 TITLE OF ISSUE: Solar on Public Buildings Grant Project - Federal Executive Order BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Attached, please find our correspondence with SolarPod, our contractor for the installation of solar panels on city hall and the fires station. This project is funded through a state grant of 60% of the costs. The City must provide matching funds of 10% of the project costs. The remaining portion of the costs (30%) was to come from a federal tax credit. A recent executive order signed by President Trump puts into question whether those federal tax credits will still be available to us. Staff's recommendation is to pause work on the project, including the ordering of the solar panels and other materials for the job until more is know about the effect of the Executive Order. COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: See attached. REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Motion to pause work on the Solar on Public Buildings Grant project, including delaying the ordering of materials for the project until such time that federal agencies are able to provide clarity on whether or not federal tax credits for this project will be available.
