o Sewer service lateral inspection and cleaning costs if televising and cleaning result in the
repair or replacement of sewer service lateral line
How to apply for the Private Property I/I Grant
o The resident should contact Interim Public Works Director Tedd Peterson by email
at tpeterson@centervillemn.com and inform him that they would like to participate in the
Private Property I&I Grant Program, leave your name, address, and phone number.
o The resident will be asked to submit the contractor info of their choice and some form of
documentation that verifies an I&I issue.
1. Provide the city with a televising video for review documenting the alleged existing
I&I concern for review and consideration for the grant program.
2. The city recommends receiving multiple quotes to ensure the best value.
3. The city does NOT have a list of qualified contractors, but your contractor must
have a plumbing license.
o Once the city confirms the I&I issue, the contractor must apply for a sewer repair permit.
o The contractor will be asked to submit the repair quote with the permit application.
o The city then determines the award amount, which will be 50% or 75% of the repair costs
up to a maximum grant of $5,000 or $7,500 depending on whether or not the application
qualifies for the Equity enhancement.
1. The city pays the contractor the determined award amount, the Resident is
responsible for the remainder of the quoted price.
2. Grant funds will be distributed in the order the projects are approved until the
funding is depleted.
3. The approved work must be completed within 30 calendar days of being approved
by the City for the grant program, or the funds will be reallocated to the next
Resident in line to have I&I work completed.
o Once everything is confirmed, the city will approve the permit, and the contractor can begin
repair work.
o The city will inspect and approve the repair work prior to completion.
o No retroactive pay is permitted for past projects.
For the 2025 Private I&I Grant Program, the City of Centerville has a limited amount of grant
funds available which will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you have any
questions or concerns throughout any part of this process, do not hesitate to contact Tedd Peterson
at tpeterson@centervillemn.com or 651-792-7943.
51
