CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />P OSITION D ESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: C ITY A DMINISTRATOR <br />Department: Administration <br />Accountable To: City Council <br />Status:Exempt Date: March 2025 <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: <br />Direct the administration of city affairs as provided by City Council action, state and federal <br />statutes, and coordinate with the City Council in the administration of city affairs. Develops and <br />implements programs, work plans, and budgets which advance the City CouncilÓs policies and <br />directives with the involvement and assistance of City Department Heads and Staff. Plans, <br />coordinates, directs, and evaluates, under Council direction, the implementation of municipal <br />services, programs, initiatives, and policies. Perpetuates and manages a collaborative team- <br />oriented culture with all City Employees. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED: <br />Works under the general guidance and direction of the City Council. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED: <br />This position is responsible for the supervision of all City Staff and the work of consultants. <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: <br />Strategic Leadership, Policy Implementation and Financial Management <br /> In collaboration with City Council, develops yearly strategic plan that brings the community <br />together, provides clarity of purpose and priorities, and guides the cityÓs actions in achieving <br />its goals and objectives. <br /> Works with Department Heads to carry out the City CouncilÓs annual goals, directives, <br />guidelines and strategies. <br /> Supervises the overall implementation of all city services and programs through the <br />Department Heads. <br /> Recommends organizational and policy planning priorities with well documented, objective <br />reports designed to inform and advise the Council in establishing public policy. <br /> Provides information related to contemplated municipal projects and programs as required by <br />City Council. <br /> Keeps City Council updated on City business, projects, budgets, and fiscal condition of the <br />City. <br /> Implements long-term financial analysis and planning that integrates strategic planning and <br />reflects the communityÓs values and priorities <br /> Responsible for annual financial statement and annual report. <br /> Directs the preparation of understandable capital and operating budgets. <br /> Ensures all necessary documents are filed with the State and County regarding tax levies, <br />levy limits, etc. <br /> Ensures all required reports are submitted to the State of Minnesota and County as required. <br /> Oversees cost control activities; monitors revenues and expenditures to assure sound budget <br />and fiscal controls. <br />8 <br /> <br />
