March 26, 2025
Dear Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan and Legislative Leaders:
The City of Centerville respectfully asks you to consider another public safety funding bill,
similar to the one that passed during the 2023 legislative session; Centerville received a one-
time funding allocation of $171,000 to use for public safety.
With the loss of other funding sources, and more than half of our budget allocated to public
safety, it has been diicult for Centerville to meet budgetary needs and maintain minimal tax
levy adjustments.
The funding we received in 2023 was extremely helpful and we spent our public safety funds
on hiring and retention bonuses, equipment, and traic calming measures, thereby allowing
for the seamless continuity of operations and continued exceptional service to our
Centerville residents.
During our visit with Senator Gustafson at City Day on the Hill, she mentioned that she was
working on another public safety funding bill, and we fully support this.
While the City of Centerville relies heavily on stable, predictable municipal funding, one-
time public safety funding allocations are also very helpful.
The City of Centerville fully supports new public safety funding legislation to help cities cover
costs associated with increasingly expensive public safety departments.
Sincerely,
Nancy Golden, Mayor
6
