THE CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />Centerville was first established as a township in 1857 before <br />Minnesota became a state. Incorporated in 1910, the City of <br />Centerville is a Plan A Statutory City with a Mayor and a four - <br />member Council. The Mayor serves a two-year term, and each of <br />the four City Council Members serves four-year terms. <br />The Council is responsible for adopting policies affecting City <br />affairs, approving the annual budget, enacting ordinances and <br />resolutions, and providing policy direction for City departments <br />and activities. The City Council appoints a City Administrator to <br />serve as the Chief Administrative Officer of the City. Committees <br />and Commissions include the Economic Development Authority <br />(EDA), Parks & Recreation Committee, and the Planning and <br />Zoning Commission. <br />The City serves a population of 3,912 across 2.4 square miles <br />with a 2025 budget of $3.5 million and a team of 8 FTEs across <br />three departments: Administration, Finance, and Public Works. <br />The City contracts for planning and engineering services, and <br />police and fire services are provided through a joint powers <br />agreement with the Centennial Lakes Police Department and <br />Centennial Fire District. <br />FTEs 2025 BUDGET AREA <br />2.4 square <br />8 $3.5 million <br />miles <br />THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR <br />POPULATION <br />3,912 <br />The City Administrator directs the administration of city affairs as provided by City Council action, state and <br />federal statutes, and coordinates with the City Council in the administration of city affairs. The City <br />Administrator develops and implements programs, work plans, and budgets which advance the City Council's <br />policies and directives with the involvement and assistance of City Department Heads and Staff. Under Council <br />direction, the City Administrator plans, coordinates, directs, and evaluates the implementation of municipal <br />services, programs, initiatives, and policies while perpetuating and managing a collaborative team -oriented <br />culture with all City Employees. <br />
