City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting Minutes <br />May 28, 2025 <br /> <br />1.Mr. Jon Gilbertson Î MWP Recreation Î LaMotte Play Structure <br /> <br />Interim City Administrator Lewis introduced Mr. Jon Gilbertson, MWP Recreation. <br /> <br />Mr. Gilbertson reviewed the presentation materials contained in the Council packet. He stated that with <br />the design that they proposed for the site, the playground would qualify as a National Demonstration Site, <br />which incorporates at least two of the following designations: promoting physical activity, physical and <br />social inclusion, outdoor adult fitness, and natural grounds integrating living landscape with manufactured <br />equipment and integrates play into walkable, bikeable, shared use community pathway networks to attract <br />use, frequency and duration. He stated that the play structure/site would have a QR code providing visitors <br />an opportunity to share their experience while at the park. The QR code would take the visitor to CORE <br />Data Service Lab where they would be asked to participate in a short survey about the park, equipment, <br />and their experience, etc. He stated that the three site-specific reports provided by CORE Data Service <br />Lab would integrate local and site-collected data to demonstrate the impact, engagement, and park user <br />sentiments. Each report aligns with the seven indicators of community vitality to provide a holistic view <br />of the health and wellness outcomes of the site and how they contribute to the community. <br /> <br />2. P & R Chairperson, Heidi Errickson-Grahek Î Disc Golf Course <br /> <br />Chairperson Errickson-Grahek introduced herself to the Council and reviewed the presentation that was <br />contained in the Council packet. She explained that Disc Golf was an amenity that was brought forward <br />during the cityÓs Community Priorities study completed in 2024. She stated that the course would need a <br />minimal amount of funding to be constructed. She stated that there was available space at Laurie LaMotte <br />Memorial Park, and the course could be installed around the outer ring of the park utilizing unused space. <br />She stated that the Public Works Staff have be instrumental in its proposed location and would be key in <br />the installation process. She stated that the Committee had been working diligently on several new <br />offerings to the park during the past year, with this being one of them (i.e. Pickleball and the Accessible <br />Play Structure). <br /> <br />Mayor Golden thanked the Committee for their dedicated work.
