Date: August 1, 2025 <br /> To: Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (ES) Customer Communities <br /> Re: 2026 Municipal Wastewater Charge <br /> Attachment: Municipal Wastewater Charge Breakdown by Community <br /> On July 23, 2025, the Metropolitan Council adopted the 2026 ES wastewater rates and charges. This <br /> included the Municipal Wastewater Charge in the amount of$314,622,000. This is an increase of 5.8% <br /> from the 2025 charge of$297,360,000. <br /> ES continues to use an allocation method to calculate each municipality's charges. The method uses <br /> the 2024 calendar year flow to allocate the $314.6 million total municipal wastewater charges to <br /> customer communities. ES bills two years following flow data in accordance with a 2016 customer <br /> community taskforce recommendation. <br /> Your municipality's percentage of the overall system flow during that period is the percentage of the <br /> Municipal Wastewater Charge that will be charged to your community in 2026. We have included the <br /> calculation on the attached table and will bill your municipality in equal monthly amounts in 2026.
