PAY EQUITYANALYSIS
As part of this study, MGT evaluated the proposed classification and compensation structure
for compliance with the Minnesota Local Government Pay Equity Act. This review ensures the
Ekv{Ҁu"u{uvgo"cnkipu"ykvj"kpvgtpcn"gswkv{."ocrket competitiveness, and applicable statutory
requirements.
The analysis included a detailed review of employee compensation data, job classifications, and
position descriptions. Using established job evaluation factors (via the Job Analysis
Questionnaire), positions were assessed to confirm that work of comparablevalue, based on
knowledge, skills, responsibility, and working conditions, is compensated equitably.
MGT also examined pay relationships across job classes and grades to identify potential
inequities and confirm proper alignment. This included evaluating whether employees
performing similar work are appropriately classified within the same pay ranges, andwhether
differences in pay are applied consistently and supported by clearly defined criteria.
Kp"cffkvkqp."vjg"Ekv{Ҁu"rtcevkegu"tgncvgf"vq"uvctvkng pay, step increases, and market adjustments
were reviewed to ensure consistency and fairness in application.Overall, the City has a strong
foundation of structured compensation practices and is well-positioned to maintain compliance
and transparency. Recommendations focused on refining classification structures and
supporting ongoing monitoring to sustain pay equity over time.
Appreciation
MGT has appreciated the opportunity to work with the City of Centervilleon this Classification
and Compensation Study.
