8 Site and Project Ouali~

. Demonstrate ability of the project to link residential areas to intended public interest areas.

The existing Anoka County Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Trail is connected to the Laurie LaMotte
Park Trail. The Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Trail circles the west and south side ofCenterville
Lake and connects to the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park. This park offers camping,
swimming beaches, picnic areas and shelters, boat launches for water activities and trails for
hiking and biking. There are other trails planned for the park, as well. (See Figure 7.) The trail in
the Anoka County Chain of Lakes Park has two spurs. The western spur connects to Reshanau
Lake and runs through Chomonix Golf Course to continue on to a network of Lino Lakes
residential trails. The southern spur connects to Sherman Lake and the Pheasant Hills Preserve
Residential Development. The Laurie LaMotte Trail has one spur that we hope to make the
continuing connection to the Washington County Hardwood Creek Trail. This spur passes
through two residential developments at this time, Hunters Crossing and Pheasant Marsh.

15
