Anoka Coimty plan supports and includes the Clearwater Trail connection
(Zoom in from Figure 8)

· Explain the aesthetic quality of the trail location.

The proposed Clearwater Trail will connect to Laurie LaMotte Park and to the west, the Anoka
County Chain of Lakes Trail, to the east (Fig 8 and 9), Hugo and the Hardwood Creek Trail,
giving access to parks, lakes, golf course, communities and residential areas. The proposed
Clearwater Trail will be a continuing connection through Centerville and join with the
Washington County Hardwood Creek Trail. The existing trails offer a variety of family parks,
lakes and activities. Because of the lakes in this area, users of these trails are often able to
observe a large variety of waterfowl and small animals.

· Are the intended or existing uses for the trail appropriate?

The proposed Clearwater Trail is intended for a full range of potential user enjoyment and for
non-motorized transportation.

· Detail existing development (if any) on site or in corridor.

The proposed Clearwater Trail will add 4,000 feet of trail footage to the existing trail network.
This trail will start at an easement west of 20th Avenue and run east across undeveloped land
with a pedestrian bridge crossing over 35E. This trail then connects to an existing trail in Hugo.

18
