<br />City ofCenterville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />November 29, 2006 <br /> <br />Mayor Capra concurred that she was excited about the project and very happy with the <br />plan. <br /> <br />Finance Director Meyer reported that the final development plan will be presented before <br />the Council's last meeting in December. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra thanked Mr. Mehl for providing the update to Council. <br /> <br />4. Centerville Sesquicentennial <br /> <br />a. Invitation to Governor Pawlenty to Dedication of Heritage Point Park <br /> <br />Mayor Capra suggested an invitation, with Council permission, be extended to Governor <br />Pawlenty to attend the 1601 LaMotte park dedication and reception in August 2007 at the <br />City's 150th Anniversary. <br /> <br />Council Member T erway stated that he felt this was a good idea. <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson reported that funds would be needed to support the Parks <br />Committee to make improvements. <br /> <br />Council Member Lee suggested there may be room in this year's budget, quoting $15,000 <br />to $20,000. Mayor Capra suggested a gazebo. City Engineer Statz responded that <br />another city had built a gazebo four years ago at a cost of $40,000. <br /> <br />It was Council consensus to invite Governor Pawlenty to the park dedication. <br /> <br />5. Emergency Management for Elected Officials <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson reported there would be emergency management training on <br />December 12,2006 at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Capra requested that Council Members attend, if <br />possible, and stated that the Chief would extend an invitation to Planning and Zoning and <br />Parks and Recreation Commissioners, should they be interested. She added that the <br />Chief asked her to extend congratulations to the re-elected Council Members. <br /> <br />6. Council Updates <br /> <br />Council Member Paar reported on Super Rink open skating discounts that are available to <br />residents. He said passes could be written into the agreement with National Sports, <br />scheduling free skate nights for residents only, and said he was working with Pete <br />Carlson regarding available hours. <br /> <br />Council Member Paar also reported on seeing Centerville businessman Michael <br />Giovinazzo spotlighted for American Family Insurance and having received the JD <br />Power Distinguished Insurance Award.
