<br />Mr. Palzer indicated the building was handled under the previous administration and <br />never went through the process. He then indicated that he had done the building code <br />items but none of the zoning code items were addressed. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra indicated that the building stores ammunition. <br /> <br />Milo Bennett, Fire Chief, indicated that an ammunition distributorship is operated out of <br />the building. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Broussard Vickers, seconded by Council Member <br />Nelson to table approval of KCI site plan and sign plan pending receipt of the <br />grading plan and 10% greenspace. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />4. Thermal Imaging Cameras - Centennial Fire <br /> <br />Milo Bennett, Fire Chief, indicated that this item was on Council's agenda because the <br />steering committee had met and did not have a quorum and was unable to act on the <br />matter. He then explained that the Fire Department has one them1al imaging camera that <br />was bought a year ago and it has become invaluable to the Department. He further <br />explained that new models are being made and the Department can purchase three <br />cameras that are smaller and easier to use for the price of the first one it purchased. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Fire Chief Bennett indicated that donation money is available from the Firefighters Relief <br />Association through its charitable gambling operations for the purchase of the cameras. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Capra, seconded by Council Member Broussard <br />Vickers to approve the purchase of three thermal imaging cameras with donated <br />funds as requested by the Centennial Fire Department. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked if the Fire Department has biohazard suits. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Bennett indicated that the hazmat issues are handled through Anoka County by <br />the Fridley, Mounds View Spring Lake Park, Coon Rapids Departments. He then <br />indicated that there is grant money available to purchase the suits but the catch is that <br />personnel would need to be trained and that training would need to be maintained to <br />satisfy the OSHA requirements for hazmat response. He further indicated that there is no <br />grant money available to pay for the training. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked if there had been any progress on the 800 megahertz radio system <br />for the County. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Bennett indicated that the radio system is a $12 million dollar issue for the <br />County. He then indicated that the County had discussed going after a taxing district for <br />the radio system but is now looking into a 911 surcharge and is attempting to have <br />legislation passed that would allow it. <br /> <br />Page 23 of 25 <br />
