<br />Consideration of the Submission of a Rice Creek Watershed District Application <br />for Fund Assistance Associated with Stream Bed & Bank Stabilization Program <br />by Mr. Tim Glascow, 7319 Old Mill Road <br /> <br />Mr. Palzer indicated Mr. Glascow is requesting reimbursement for $3,147 for <br />work he will be completing at his property to stabilize the stream bed in his rear <br />yard. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg encouraged that the Rice Creek Watershed eliminate the <br />cuttings or deforestation along the creek. He-indicated the natural run off <br />solutions were much more beneficial than landscaping. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Broussard Vickers. seconded bv Council <br />Member Nelson to advise Mr. Palzer to forward this information to the Rice <br />Creek Watershed as necessary, All in favor, Motion carried. <br /> <br />Rainwater Gardens <br /> <br />Mr. Palzer noted rainwater gardens could be ust;d in the City of Centerville to <br />assist with backyard drainage issues. He noted these gardens have been <br />developed in several cities to address similar concerns. <br /> <br />Mr. Peterson recommended this type of resolution to assist residents in the area <br />with groundwater concerns, especially along Center Street. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers suggested the Council hold a seminar on this <br />topic to inform the residents of this option. The Council concurred. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers asked that a report on Rainwater Gardens be <br />provided at the next meeting to explain which time of the year would be best for <br />plantings, watering conditions needed, maintenance, etc. for these type of <br />gardens. <br /> <br />Successful Completion ofMr. Joel McPherson's Six (6) Month Probationary <br />Period <br /> <br />Mr. Palzer asked for affirmation of the probationary period to regular employee <br />status for Mr. Joel McPherson. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Nelson. seconded by Council Member Broussard <br />Vickers to affirm the probationary period of Mr. Joel McPherson being <br />completed and movin~ him on as a regular emplovee. All in favor. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />Hugonian Article <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg explained the Hugonian stated the MUSA swap was an issue <br />where the assessments were the issue with Pheasant Marsh. He added that grant <br />money was used on the Acorn Creek Park and that there was no short fall of <br />funds.
