DATE DUTY LAW NOVEMBER 2001 Nov. 5 Last day before Nov. 6 general election for voter to apply Minn. Stat. in person for absentee ballots. Last day for voters to SS 2038.04, return completed absentee ballots. Some exceptions subd. 1; exist for persons in health care facilities. Clerk's office 2038.085; must be open until 7 p.m. where clerk has the duty of 2038.05 administering absentee voting laws. Nov. 5 Election judges obtain all election materials including Minn. Stat. precinct voter rosters and absentee ballot applications SS 201.221, from clerk (before 9 p.m.) or clerk arranges for delivery to subd. 3; polling place before voting begins. 2048.29, subd, 1; 2038.10 8efore voting Election judges perform all statutory duties pertaining to Minn. Stat. begins, opening of polling places and ballot preparation. SS 204C.08; Nov. 6 204C.09 Nov. 6 City clerk posts sample municipal ballot at each polling Minn. Stat. place on election day. S 205.16, subd. 3 Nov. 6 General election day. Minimum voting hours 5 p.m. to Minn. Stat. 8 p.m. except in metro area where they must open no SS 205.07; later than 10 a.m. Public meetings are prohibited 204C.03, subd. between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. if a city or school district 1; 205.175, election is scheduled. All special school district levy subds. 1-2 elections must take place on this day as well. Nov. 7 Election judges must deliver summary statements, Minn. Stat. ballots, and other materials to auditor and/or clerk for SS 204C.27; transmittal to auditor no later than 24 hours after 204C.28 polls close. Nov. 8 Clerk must return polling place rosters and completed Minn. Stat. voter registration cards to county auditor within 48 hours S 204C.27 after polls close. Nov. 12 Veterans' Day; mandatory legal holiday. No public Minn. Stat. business shall be transacted, except in cases of SS 645.44, subd. necessity. State law permits both on- and off-sale 5; 340A.504 of liquor. 18
