<br />May 9,2001 Council Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />Council Member Capra requested the following change: Page 7, indicate that Council <br />Member Capra requested an evaluation of the ponds to be completed by Mr. Peterson <br />prior to setting any type of maintenance schedule. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Nelson. seconded by Council Member Capra to <br />approve the April 25. 2001 Council Minutes as amended. All in favor. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />VI. PETITIONS AND COMPLAINTS <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />VII. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. City Goals <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg stated that he agreed with Mr. March regarding the removal of the <br />dollar amounts previously included in the document. Mayor Swedberg stated he would <br />like Council to adopt the goals this evening. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson questioned whether to forward the goals to the other <br />committees/commission for their review. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg stated that residents had been given the opportunity to express their <br />feelings and no major modifications were requested. Mayor Swedberg thanked the Quad <br />Press for publishing an article on the goals. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra stated that several of the goals had already been enacted and she <br />felt that only the community garden item was questionable. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Nelson. seconded by Council Member Capra to adopt <br />the goals document as drafted by Mayor Swedberg and forward same to <br />committees/commission for their review. <br /> <br />Council Member Travis questioned whether, subsequent to obtaining public input, any <br />modifications were made to the document. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg concurred. Mayor Swedberg stated that residents reacted to the <br />presented document and did not offer any significant modifications. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers stated she did not find anyone who said the entire <br />document was wonderful and no one said the idea was terrible. She indicated she had <br />gotten the impression that residents were fine with the goals provided taxes were not <br />raised and current City services were not sacrificed in order to pay for the goals. Council <br />Member Broussard Vickers stated that she would prefer to see the original draft rewritten <br />slightly prior to acting on same. <br /> <br />Page 3 of9 <br />
