<br />March 28, 2001 <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />(Council Members Broussard Vickers and Travis) Navs - 3 (Mayor Swedberg. <br />Council Members Nelson and Capra). Motion failed. <br /> <br />Ms. Brenner requested that Council permit tape recording of the Committee's meetings to <br />allow for transcription at a later date. Mr. March concurred. <br /> <br />Ms. Brenner stated that an item of discussion for the Committee's first meeting was a <br />survey and questioned whether the Council had plans for same. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra stated the Economic Development Committee had discussed <br />doing a survey with local businesses. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg stated that if Council adopted the National League of Cities Index, there <br />are survey methods that could be used utilized. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers stated it would be fine for the Committee to put <br />together the majority of the survey with input from commission/committees if desired. <br /> <br />2. Authorization to Advertise for Full-Time Receptionist <br /> <br />Mr. March requested that this item be tabled allowing additional time to ascertain the <br />appropriate level of Staffing needed. Mr. March stated that he is researching the <br />availability of interns for the summer months for code enforcement and other issues that <br />may affect Staffing needs. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Nelson. seconded by Council Member Capra to remove <br />this item from the agenda. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson questioned the speed of the LaserFiche software when Mr. <br />March was reviewing same. Mr. March stated that he had arranged for a LaserFische <br />representative to review the City's computers and files on April 5, 2001. It was <br />anticipated that this information would provide enough resources to allow a proposal to <br />be submitted by Crabtree Companies, Inc. Mr. March stated that the system appeared to <br />be fast. <br /> <br />3. Fete des Lacs 2001 Budget <br /> <br />Mr. Ray DeVine, Chairperson, appeared before Council to ascertain whether Council had <br />any questions on the budget information submitted in the packet. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg stated that the Fete des Lacs - City Celebration was important to the <br />City as it shows City pride and features the best of what Centerville has to offer. Mayor <br />Swedberg also stated that contained in his goals presented to Council, a revolving fund or <br />special fund containing $35,000 for expenditures associated with the Celebration. Mayor <br />Swedberg stated that monies would be replenished from revenue earned from the <br />Celebration. Mayor Swedberg requested that Mr. March assist in financial accountability <br />for the committee. <br /> <br />Page 5 of 10 <br />
