<br />Penn-Lowry Corridors Study <br />Minneapolis, Minnesota <br />Scott Wende Architects led the architecture and urban design <br />efforts in examining revitalization issues for the Penn and <br />Lowry Avenue corridors in north Minneapolis. Work was <br />completed in close association with the Cleveland, Victory, <br />Folwell, McKinley, Jordan and Hawthorne neighborhoods, as <br />well as the Penn-Lowry Business Association <br /> <br />Recommendations included concentration of commercial <br />activities in the major nodes, development of neighborhood <br />centers, reclamation of former wetlands, and greenway <br />connections to the Mississippi River. <br /> <br />Lake Street Corridor Study <br />Minneapolis, Minnesota <br />Scott Wende Architects was part of larger multi-disiplinary <br />team which examined revitalization issues for Lake Street <br />between 35W and Hiawatha Avenue. Work was completed <br />in close association with the Corcoran, Powderhorn, Phillips <br />and Central Neighborhoods. <br /> <br />Recommendations included concentration of commercial <br />activities in the major nodes, higher density mixed-use <br />between each of the nodes, with transit and open space <br />improvements throughout the corridor. <br /> <br />Mississippi Corridor Neighborhood Coalition <br />Minneapolis, Minnesota <br />Working closely with the Mississippi Corridor Neighborhood <br />Coalition and Bottineau Citizens in Action, this Project is a <br />comprehensive approach examing the areas of neighborhood <br />revitalization, economic development, land use, urban <br />design, transportation and parks and open space from a <br />neighborhood-based perspective. <br /> <br />Recommendations are made for a conceptual corridor plan <br />and implementation steps, strategies and potential projects <br />are outlined to assist the neighborhoods at an individual and <br />collective approach for making use of their River. <br /> <br />The project area is the Mississippi River corridor and the <br />adjacent neighborhoods in North and Northeast <br />Minneapolis from Hennepin Avenue and Nicollet Island to <br />the north City limits. <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
