N otth Metro Media ce?~er< 1

..LoOk

Channel 15 is the showplace of all that we do at the North Metro Media Center. For people who
utilize our facility, it is where they view the results of their labor. For many people, what they
see on the channel shapes their opinion regarding community programming as a whole.

Community television will probably never look like broadcast television, but there are some
things we can do to ensure a positive viewing experience. OUf goal is to significantly improve
the presentation of programs on the channel.

In May of 2000, a position was created that included program processing and master control as
primary responsibilities. This was a significant step, as it gave recognition to the importance of
having a staff person dedicated to these tasks, and the impact they have on the look of the
channel.

We plan to fully implement the following channel improvements by 2001:

. Program Transitions
Each program submitted for playback must have the length of the program and cue time
documented. This information is used by the master control operator when displaying the
program on the channel. Unfortunately, producers don't always use exact times. If the improper
information is provided, the program doesn't start at the right time or may end early or late.
Every new program, submitted for playback, will be checked, by staff, for accuracy. This will
ensure programs start and end at the proper time.
