be true digital. Since most of the programs produced by staff are shot with the truck, this
would vastly improve the technical qual ty of most programs played on the public access
channel.

The new production truck will be with w; for a long time. It is our goal to outfit it with
equipment that will last just as long. Hiqh quality digital equipment is expensive, but it will
vastly improve our output and our capal)ilities.

There are also many possibilities for the truck in the future. We will continue to cover local
events, concerts and sports. We will also be able to use the truck as an additional edit suite
for staff, and as an additional control room.

We cannot rule out the possibility that we may need to seek additional funding in the future. A
production truck outfitted with superior r1roduction tools could certainly be used as a revenue
generator. Many access centers have (eveloped departments assigned to commercial
production work. While this isn't curren ly a plan of ours, it could certainly be a possibility or a
necessity in the future.

Cost:

4 cameras, lenses, Control Units, Triax Adaptors, $150,000
Router $35,000
RTS Intercom System $34,000
Monitors $20,000
SwitcherlDVE $102,300
DEKO Digital Graphics $10,000
Cables, Converters, DAs, Connectors $30,000

RECOMMENDED 2001 PURCHASES

With our year 2001 equipment purchases, we would like to achieve the following goals:

· Complete the City Scope set
· Begin the master control upgrade
· Save money for future truck upgrades

· City Scope Set
Construction on the City Scope set started in 2000. Money was spent to create a backdrop.
In 2001 we would like to complete the set with risers, a desk, signage and additional
decorative touches.

· Master Control Upgrade (phase one of three)
The master control upgrades will be completed across three years. At this point, staff feels we
should replace our Oi-Tech with a new routing system, upgrade the Scala graphics system,
and introduce at least four OVCPro playback decks during the first phase, in 2001.

· Save Money
As you have seen by reviewing the general equipment goals, replacing and outfitting the
production truck and moving to the digital format are expensive propositions~ Clearly, we can
only purchase what we can afford. Staff is working to save money, with the hope that the truck

J I
