Mayor Wilharber stated he told the officer that the property belonged <br />to Swift Construction and allowed the tree removal company to continue their <br />work. <br /> <br />Mr. March stated those trees were on an outlot and he has told the contractor to <br />fill in the holes that were left behind when the trees were removed. <br /> <br />Stop Sign Request - 73rd Street <br /> <br />Elizabeth Larson (1882. 73rd Street) submitted a petition to the City for a stop sign <br />in her neighborhood due to the rising flow of high-speed traffic on her street. <br /> <br />Mr. March stated he talked with the Police Chief about updating the speed study <br />with an unmarked squad car. The Police Chief stated they would do so and update <br />the speed study for early morning and late afternoon hours. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber stated he spoke with Mr. Rehbein of Rehbein Transit to address <br />the concern of speeding busses. Mr. Rehbein asked them to report the bus <br />numbers, time of day, and dates so he can narrow down the issue and respond. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson asked when that information will be received. Mr. March <br />estimated by the next Council meeting. <br /> <br />Council Member Travis asked if there are too many kids for a 30 mph zone, and if <br />a stop sign may be needed even ifvehic1es are staying under 30 mph. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson suggested that be addressed once the report is received <br />on the speed of traffic. <br /> <br />Mr. March suggested that a police officer be invited to a meeting so they can <br />respond. He noted the past indication that stop signs do not actually slow the <br />speed oftraffic and, in some cases, can speed traffic. The Council agreed with the <br />suggestion to invite a police officer to an upcoming Council meeting. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers stated if they are not recommending a stop <br />sign installation, she would like to know why. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson stated she has visited the site and agrees cars speed <br />through that area. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers stated she witnessed the same, that cars are <br />impatient at 20 mph. . <br /> <br />VIII.
