<br />PARK AND RECREATION GOALS AND POLICIES <br /> <br />It is the goal ofthe City of Centerville to: <br />· Provide convenient active and passive recreation opportunities to the residents <br />of Centerville. <br />· Build new and upgrade existing park properties and trails with ecologically <br />sound and sustainable materials, where possible. <br />· Establish a bikinglhiking trail system connecting the City parks. <br />· Provide adequate expansion of parks and recreation areas III proposed <br />residential developments. <br />· Provide safe and convenient bicycle and pedestrian access to community <br />recreational facilities. <br />· Expand and preserve parks and recreation opportunities on the shores of <br />Centerville and Peltier Lakes with appropriate sustainable practices in mind. <br />· Promote or provide recreational facilities and programs to serve the varied <br />recreational needs of all age groups in the City. <br /> <br />It is the policy of the City ofCenterville to: <br />· Develop a trail access plan which provides interconnection of major park and <br />recreation areas and community neighborhoods. <br />· Design and maintain parks with proper lighting, shelter and landscaping to <br />ensure public and property safety, with sustainable practices which protect the <br />environmental resources for future generations. <br />· Develop land use regulations compatible with adjacent parks, recreation areas <br />and natural features. <br />· Require dedication of net developable parkland or cash in lieu of land in <br />conjunction with the subdivision or re-development of all properties. <br />· Encourage and accept land gifts and forfeitures in areas with potential <br />recreational development opportunities or to provide open green-space. <br />· Coordinate regional trail development potential with Anoka County and <br />adjacent communities. <br /> <br />34 <br />
