'""/-0'0'", <br />~.....:.i <br /> <br /> <br />For side post mounts, use the same procedure described previously, but <br />before staining the posts, route out a groove into the side of the posts, <br />or install mounting strips on them, into which the sign will hang. Drill <br />out and countersink holes in the side of the sign, to accommodate the <br />lag screws. Lag screws that measure 5" long and 3/8" in diameter will <br />work best. They should be countersunk, and extend into the side of the <br />sign 2.5 inches. Note that the real purpose of the lag screw is to hold <br />the sign in place during installation. Once the sign is securely in the <br />ground with the grooved sides and stringers, the sign will stay together, <br />even without the lag screws. <br /> <br />For a double-sided sign, a side post mount is required. This technique requires the support stringer <br />across the top or bottom of the sign.
