Parks & Recreation Meeting Minutes 02-04-04

IV. APPEARANCES

None.

v. CONSIDERA nON OF MINUTES

Motion was made by Chairperson Peterson, seconded by Committee Member Peil to
approve the January 7, 2004 Parks and Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes. All
in favor: Motion carried unanimously.

VI. COMMITTEE BUSINESS

Hunters Crossin!!. Second Addition. Phase I

Chairperson Peterson was concerned that the placement of the trail on the far west edge of
the property as shown on the plat for Hunters Crossing, Second Addition, Phase I, will
continuously be under water. In a Public Works opinion a bridge in this area will not be
workable or easily maintained and a culvert will be too expensive for the developer.
Public Works is currently having problems maintaining the trail in Pheasant Marsh
because of the 90 degree angle of the trail. Chairperson Peterson, as a Public Works
employee has discussed this with the City Engineer and felt Mr. Rick Carlson would work
with the city for a better placement of the Hunters Crossing Trail. Chairperson Peterson
will keep the committee informed.

Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park Pavin2 Proiect

Chairperson Peterson suggested that at the time the parking lot is paved at Laurie Lalviotte
Memorial Park in conjunction with Heritage Street and LaMotte Drive, the city should
pursue getting the trail on the side of S1. Genevieve as previously discussed.
Representatives of the church had tentatively agreed to a trail on the west border line of
the parking lot around the lift station to the east with the final location of the trail
dependant on the church's renovation plans. Committee Member Peil stated the church
has recently revised their plans for renovation of the church with one option being a
school facility, community building, sanctuary, fellowship hall, out buildings, and
gardens. Committee Member Peil and Council Member Lee will further investigate and
report to the committee when more information becomes available. The committee felt
the church should be approached to include the trail into their plans. The committee was
concerned that this trail was not included in the negotiations with the church for the
vacation of Goiffon Road, but at the time the City Attorney said that was not possible.

Summer Pro2rams

Chairperson Peterson questioned whether the YMCA was planning to do a summer
program this year similar to the one which was done at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park in
August 2003. Committee Member Peil has been in contact with the YMCA

2of4
